Dr. Oliver Okumu is Research Scientist with over 8years’ experience in research. Technically, his experiences range from design, management, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of agricultural research output. He has managed and participated in various research projects.. Dr. Okumu worked/ Consulted for Coffee Research Institute in determining the use of beneficial soil microorganisms as an alternative management options for the control of various coffee diseases. He has also worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Nairobi handling both Undergraduate and Diploma students. At the University he also worked as a research assistant in the Aflatoxin Project Funded by the USAID. He has worked with Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research organization (KALRO) on efficacy trials of pherogen dispensers on the management of fall armyworm for registration by Pest Control and Produce Board (PCPB) Dr. Okumu has also worked as a Research Associate for Province Inc, a company that develops safe, effective and economic pheromone solutions for crop protection. He was involved in the coordination of field trials in Kenya, supervise dispenser installation, and train research assistants on data collection and identification of fall armyworm. Currently Dr. Okumu works as Assistant Professor at the Hamelmalao Agricultural College, Eritrea. My areas of interest include plant disease management, legume diseases, identification and characterization cereal mycotoxins and microbiology. He holds Doctor of Philosophy, MSc Degree in Crop Protection and a BSc. degree in Agriculture general from the University of Nairobi, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences
