Pouirketa Rita Nikiema is a development economist from Burkina Faso. Her fieldwork included Education Economics, Health Economics, Nutrition, Gender, Youth Employment, Financial Inclusion, and Impact Evaluation. Rita had research experience with the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), and the United Nations World Institute for Development Economic Research (UNU-WIDER). Currently, Rita is working as a Research Fellow with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). In 2020, she was a Visiting Scholar at Africa Region Chief Economist Office (AFRCE) of the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C. She holds a Ph.D in Applied Economics from the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (Senegal), a MSc in Human Resource Economics from the Université Ouaga II (Burkina Faso), a Maitrise (MA) in Economic Policy Analysis from the Université de Koudougou (Burkina Faso), and Graduate Microprogram in Applied Development Economics from Université Laval. Since 2016, Rita is an Assistant Professor in Economics at Université Norbert Zongo in Burkina Faso. Moreover, she is member of the Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE) and a junior fellow with the Pan-African scientific research council (PASRC).
