Mamudu is an Associate Professor with expertise in agricultural  extension, rural development and livelihoods. With a PhD in Livelihoods (International and Rural Development), Prof. Akudugu has over a decade of experience providing technical backstopping and support services to state and non-state actors in the agricultural sector. He has over the years been engaged in policy and related research and advocacy activities.

Recently, he had funding from the UK Government through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) to review trade policies and regulations in Ghana and the UK with the aim of helping Ghana to take advantage of Brexit to increase its food supply by smallholder farmers to the UK market. He has worked as a National Consultant to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) as well as Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN on selected agricultural commodity value chains and review of policies and regulations that affect the agriculture and rural livelihoods in Ghana. As a National Consultant for the Onion Value Chain, Prof. Akudugu contributed to the development of “Investing for Food and Jobs (IFJ): An Agenda for Transforming Ghana’s Agriculture (2018-2021)”, supported by the FAO, Ghana Office. He has participated in several national policy dialogues.
